The most common question we hear on WhatsApp is not about range or speed. It's "do I need a special charger at home?" The answer is no. Here is exactly how charging a Nexo works, how long it takes, what it costs on your bill, and how to do it safely through load-shedding and summer heat.
Every Nexo ships with its own charger. It plugs into any standard 220V household socket — the same one your fridge or TV uses. There is no charging station, no wiring change and no electrician required. The charger draws roughly the same power as an iron, so any sound domestic circuit handles it.
From empty to full takes 4–5 hours on both the Nine 1500W and the SU7 2000W. Because most riders come home with 30–60% left, a typical overnight top-up is shorter. The charger switches to trickle and then stops automatically when the pack is full, so leaving it plugged in overnight is fine.
The Nine's 76.8V / 32Ah battery holds about 2.46 kWh; the SU7's 35Ah pack about 2.69 kWh. Allowing for small charging losses, a full charge uses roughly 2.6–2.9 units. At PKR 45 per unit that is about PKR 115–130 for 120–140 km of riding. A rider doing 30 km a day charges every four days or so — around eight full charges a month, or well under PKR 1,000 on the electricity bill.
| Nexo Nine 1500W | Nexo SU7 2000W | |
|---|---|---|
| Battery | 76.8V / 32Ah (≈2.46 kWh) | 76.8V / 35Ah (≈2.69 kWh), swappable |
| Full charge time | 4–5 hours | 4–5 hours |
| Units per full charge | ≈2.6 | ≈2.9 |
| Cost per full charge @ PKR 45/unit | ≈ PKR 117 | ≈ PKR 130 |
| Range per charge | 130–140 km | 120 km |
A full pack lasts most riders three to four days, so you rarely need to charge at a specific hour. Plug in whenever power is on; if it cuts out mid-charge, charging simply resumes when it returns — there is no harm to the battery. If your area has long scheduled outages, charge during the day when supply is reliable, or run the charger from a solar inverter or generator (it draws far less than an air-conditioner).
A 3–5 kW rooftop system produces far more than a Nexo needs in a sunny afternoon. Plug in between 11am and 3pm and the 2.6 units come straight from your panels. Several Nexo owners tell us their commute now costs effectively nothing — Arham Khan charges from solar during the day and describes his running cost as "practically zero".
